Description
This training will address common questions about the role of the guardian for a person with developmental disabilities. The session will review:
- How competency is determined
- The Role of the Probate Court
- Private v. Agency guardianship
- Types of Guardianship including the role of the Guardian of the Person, Trusteeship, and Payees
- Who needs a guardian
- Decision making challenges including the expectations of Probate Court and DODD and how each defines Individual Rights
- Challenges for providers in working with guardians while operating within DODD rules
